Ed Wynn hosted a popular radio show for most of the 1930s, heard in North America on Tuesday nights, sponsored by Texaco gasoline. He was often seen wearing a fireman's helmet, as the "Texaco Fire Chief". During this time, Wynn was offered the part of The Wizard in MGM's adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, but he turned down the role. The part later went to Frank Morgan. |''The Ed Wynn Show'' - Outtakes|
"The Ed Wynn Show" only aired live in a few areas...elsewhere it aired as a kinescope several weeks later. The 25/February/1950 episode featured a goof. It was decided to re-shoot the bit and edit it into the kinescope. Here are those takes.

|Jack Benny and Ed Wynn Celebrate Their 1950 Peabody Awards - Shiffy 48|
I transferred this circa 1972 to 15 ips tape directly from a short track cut starting at the rim on one side of a 16 inch lacquer coated aluminum base disk recorded @ 33.33 rpm. There was a bad dent at one spot on the rim. Fortunately, I was able to hammer down the bulge so that the grooves in that area would play without skipping. Rounded of, the duration is 5 minutes, 4 seconds. I digitized and reprocessed this circa 5 - 10 years ago...
